UPDATE (Sept. 16, 2014): You Won’t Believe What’s Going To Replace Zesto on Ponce.
Zesto drive-in, at 544 Ponce de Leon Avenue, will close its doors after 60 years on September 20, the restaurant announced on its website over the weekend.
“This neighborhood institution began by selling only ice cream on this spot in 1954,” according to the announcement.
“The small original walk-up building was razed and rebuilt in 1991, a showpiece bearing the porcelain, chrome, neon, coved ceilings, and tiled floors and walls of a classic diner.”
The property has been sold to an “undisclosed buyer.” Zesto will keep its other five metro-Atlanta locations open, still owned and operated by The Livaditis family who brought the first drive-in of the brand to Atlanta in 1949.
No word on what will open in the quick-service restaurant’s place.

Nobody wants a damn Chick Fil a, there. Really??? SMH.
I feared this would happen once the Zaxby’s opened a couple blocks away (war of the chicken tenders). Let’s all make sure EATS doesn’t suffer a similar fate.
