Neighbor says they may have closed for good

The Firkin and Lindbergh has temporarily closed at its location in Lindbergh Center City.

Patrons of the pub at 541 Main Street are surprised to find that the restaurant is already renovating after less than two years in business.

So are we.

“The Lindbergh is temporarily closed for renovations,” The Firkin posted on Facebook in February. “Check back often for updates.”

Facebook fan, Chris Rooks, posted to The Firkin’s Facebook page in response to that status udpate and said “already, why?”

Several attempts to reach the restaurant for comment have gone unanswered.

What Now Atlanta spoke to Phillip Scoby, manager at Taco Mac, a neighboring Lindbergh City Center restaurant, about The Firkin’s alleged remodel.

“I heard rumors that they were closing,” said Scoby.

TeamTriva.com announced in February on their community discussion board that The Firkin and Lindbergh is “temporarily closing for remodeling.”

“They are expecting to re-open within the next three weeks,” Team Trivia posted to their forum. The company said they will return and “will post that information as soon as we have a confirmed date.”

No updates have been made to Team Trivia’s posting.

  1. buddy just told me he looked in the windows on friday, and no construction was being done inside at all…….firkin = dunzo

  2. Oh NO!! What is Atlanta goign to do without another shitty pub!? Oh, wait, there are 6,000 others…nevermind

  3. Curse of Lindbergh City Center continues. What is it with that place? The whole idea of creating a live/work/play transit oriented development is a miserable failure in Atlanta. Nearby condos are half filled. Businesses have been closing left and right there over the past 3 years. Other than Taco Mac, which I can’t stand, no one is doing well over there, which is sad. So many people at least pass through the Lindbergh MARTA every day. Can’t they get any other businesses to stay open there, or is the economy that much in the toilet??

  4. Whoever thought this place would’ve succeeded wasn’t thinking right. First, don’t enter a market for the first time in the same block as a local chain institution, Taco Mac. It’d be one thing if anybody in the market knew of the Firkin brand, but there was no recognition. Secondly, Atlanta is a beer town. Don’t call yourself Firkin and not have one there to serve beer from. That’s poseur.

  5. I live within spitting distance of that place, and I went maybe twice. The food was just okay, and pricey for what you got. But the main problem was the staff. Not a very friendly bunch.

  6. I actually heard that they are reorganizing and will be reopening after they work out some of the details with the landlord under the new corporate structure. Did anyone hear that Urban Flats across the street is about to open back up as well?

  7. never went there. go to taco mac relatively often but LOVE bobby G’s chicago place. that places rocks!! they have the best italian beef sammidges and the staff is friendly. the thin crust pizza though is pretty shitty. sadly. great guys though. and one more time, the italian beef sandwich is outstanding as long as you also get it loaded with giardiniera pepppers (mix the hot and mild or else burn fest)

  8. They are not closed. From the Firkin Facebook page posted Wed. 3/9

“Hey Firkin Lindbergh Fans… we did not close! We have some plumbing issues and some other logistics to fix. We hope to be back up and running in 30 to 60 days. If there are any questions please ask us on either this page or our official Firkin Group of Pubs fan page.”

  9. Ugh, sounds like your experience with Bobby G’s was better than mine!!! The sandwich I had was just ok, but not worth the money I paid for it though. Yeah nice place to look at and friendly but food is no where near as good as The Firkin’s. The Firkin had homemade style food that was just awesome!!! I hope they hurry up and reopen! From what I heard from one of the managers that worked there, they are just trying to reorganize themselves from a corporate stand point and redo the lease and such. Cant blame them at all in this economy!

  10. If they closed or are remodeling I don’t care. Just another food place that jump on the band wagon of seeing other food places open. What they all lack is a true genuine give a phuck about the customer staff, from bottom to top. Just like most new food places they think they are introducing something new to a city already known for a variety of places to eat. So if you open something pertaining to food, you better have great food, at a great price and an impeccable staff that makes the customer dining experience feel warm and welcoming. Or is that too much like right!!! Many more will come & far more will fail!! Just my opinion!
