The bakeshop, at 549 Amsterdam Ave NE #5 in the Amsterdam Walk shopping center, will close for good Saturday, July 11, Krawsow told What Now Atlanta (WNA) in an email Wednesday.

Krawsow moved to Atlanta in 1990 from California leaving a career in botany and bio-chemicals and started The Breadgarden because she “didn’t find a lot going on in the way of good artisan-style bread.”

The Breadgarden has supplied Atlanta-area eateries like Café Lily, Watershed Restaurant, and Wisteria, among others.

Krawsow did not say why she is closing The Breadgarden or what the chemist turned baker will do next.

  3. WOW, I and others hate to hear this. The bread, sandwiches, muffins were the best.
