Atlanta: Forget The Pizza Wars, Taquerias On Every Corner!

Just when we thought Atlanta had peaked on lunch and dinner options for pizza, burgers and tacos (oh my!), we were wrong.

Tacos and Tequilas Mexican Grill will add to the overwhelming number of taquerias available in this international city of ours when they open this summer at Chastain Square.

Taking space near the recently renovated Chopstix on Roswell Road, this Mexican grill will offer the usual suspects of enchiladas, fajitas, quesadillas, burritos and nachos.

What, might you ask is their unique selling point? The food they will offer, unlike other restaurants, is “cooked to perfection and served in a beautiful atmosphere just like in sunny Mexico.”

This excerpt from their home page really sparks our appetite:

For the best Mexican flavor, your first and only stop must be at Tacos & Tequilas Mexican Grill, we have been serving up a Fiesta, with exciting and delicious menu items that are sure to enchant and fascinate our costumers. We are a great place to go for ardent lovers of the Mexican Cuisine.

What now? We suggest telling them that The Taco Stand recently closed exactly two miles away.

    1. rh– thanks for your comment. the taco stand closed back in january 2010, end of (which equates to just about three months ago which isn’t that long of a time frame FYI)…

  1. What the author of the article fails to report that the Taco Stand was there for over a decade, and thrived while Buckhead was busy with the nightlife scene. Since the closing of the traditional Buckhead bars, the Taco Stand limped along until it was too cost prohibitive and the construction seems nowhere in sight.

Maybe he should have mentioned that the two previous restaurants there didn’t last more than 36 months: Jack and Diane’s and another mexican place (the name I forget).
