Indian cuisine coming to Berkeley Heights shopping center.

UPDATE (Dec. 13, 2011): Spice Route Supper Club owner’s Cardomom Hill to open January 2

Cardamom Hill, a restaurant said to serve food where “The Indian South meets the American South,” is opening this fall at 1700 Northside Drive.

Asha Gomez, the founder of Spice Route Supper Club, will open the restaurant in space formerly occupied by My Girlfriend’s Kitchen in the Berkeley Heights shopping center, according to a press release Tuesday.

Berkeley Heights is located near the Howell Mill Square shopping center in the “Greater Walmart” area of Atlanta, as one What Now Atlanta reader called it.

The restaurant, named for an inland area of Kerala, —  the southwestern-most state of India whose flavors and dishes inspire Gomez — will offer vegetarian or meat Thali plates, as well as a chicken and waffles options.

Dinner entrees will be priced from $12 to $25, the release notes.
