“Thank you to everyone who has supported SLICE westside,” the pizzeria said in a Facebook post. “[Unfortunately] we are closing down.”

Slice originally opened as Westside Pie but underwent rebranding after patrons were mistaking the pizza joint for a bakery, a spokeswoman told What Now Atlanta in September.

The original Slice, located at 85 Polar Street, will stay in business, the post notes.

No word on what will open in the pizzeria’s place.

  1. While we’re on the subject — Slice on Poplar is one of my favorite places for weekday lunch downtown. Not a fan of the smoking allowed at night, but otherwise it’s a real nice place.

  2. Well that was fast.

Too many pizza joints over here. Whatever takes it’s place and wants to survive simply cannot be pizza, bbq or Mexican. This part of town is saturated with those types of establishments already. A restaurant can survive here, more and more people move over here every day.

  3. This is unfortunate, but not at all surprising. Since they have been open, there have never been more than 4 patrons in the restaurant at any given time. I went in on multiple occasions where employees outnumbered customers. I really liked Slice, too. Interestingly, Bone Lick has been open for just a few months, and is almost always busy.

A bakery might be a good idea.
