A building permit application was filed with City of Atlanta this week for an “interior fit-out” for the hair salon in Ponce City Market.

An estimated $115,000 could be spent constructing the 1,433-square-foot Rudy’s Barbershop in Old Fourth Ward, according to the application.

Rudy’s Barbershop offers haircuts for men and women, a “one-of-a-kind experience with a curated blend of art, music, and sense of place,” according to the company’s Facebook page.

The company also retails Baxter of California, Bumble and Bumble, Davines, Grant’s, and Malin+Goetz, and has its own grooming products line called Rudy’s Brand which is carried in The Ace Hotel.

Founded in 1993 by friends Alex Calderwood, Wade Weigel, and David Petersen, Rudy’s Barbershop has 23 locations “and counting” across Washington, California, Oregon, New York, and Tennessee.

Rudy’s Barbershop could open late January 2017, a company spokesperson told What Now Atlanta Wednesday.

This is the second first-to-market business announced for Ponce City Market this week. Charleston-based candle-maker Candlefish is in the permitting process for its first Georgia store at the Old Fourth Ward mixed-use project.
