The ‘Angry Chef‘ scores 48/100 on random health inspection.

Rosebud, known for using locally-grown produce for scratch cooking, failed a routine (random) health inspection last week.

Ron Eyester, who owns the Morningside restaurant, recently opened The Family Dog across the street and is known for speaking his mind through Twitter wars and in his column on Creative Loafing.

So what’s considered failing? Though different from one health inspector to the next, the industry standard is that anything below a 70 (out of 100) is failing, according to April Majors, public information officer for the Fulton County Environmental Health Services Department.

Here’s a a screen shot of Rosebud’s failed health inspection:

Failed inspection: June 2, 2011 Score: 48, Grade: U (Full report and violations)

( 1397 North Highland AVE Atlanta, GA 30306)

  1. The real story is that the chef probably took a twitter pic of the inspector’s butt when she bent over to inspect the ice machine for mold. That never bodes well for passing.

  2. Ewwwww! But that’s one of my favorites! Also, I had not seen your post about the twitter wars…there is some serious craziness going on at that restaurant…

  3. I think it is interesting to see he also failed on 6-21-2010, then passed on his non-surprise reinspection a few days later.

  4. So if restaurants like Rosebud and Buckhead Diner fail their inspections, what does that say to the “low quality” restaurants???

  5. I highly anticipated his Family Dog bar opening, as my girlfriend lives 2 blocks away and I’m a fan of the dead. Space was great looking but the food was HORRIBLE and the service even worse. I’m in the biz, and when you sit at the bar at 5 o’clock with 3 bartenders and not one approaches you to take an order for 20 minutes after waving to them, and in desperation flagging down a floor waitress, REALLY?? On a previous visit I ordered one of their specialty drinks and the barkeep said, literally, “pick something else, I don’t know how to make that…” Beware of the pricing, as a bourbon priced at $8 will have an upcharge of about $1.25 for mixers such as soda water!!! I think they even charge you for ice. The nickel and dime game reigns supreme here, so watch out. I recommend you order a beer, skip on the food, and enjoy the music, if you like that genre, otherwise skip this place altogether. Also, no reason to go to Rosebud, food is total garbage.

  6. I want to know how he got a risk level 3. Even the nasty chinese places that get 27’s on their inspections are only level 2’s. I have yet to see a level 3 risk. Thats wild.

  7. I realize this is purely anecdotal, but after a group dinner at Rosebud about a month ago, all four of us got violently ill. The only common link was an appetizer we all shared. I guess I’m glad problems have been drawn to their attention, but I don’t plan on going back.
