Rita’s Italian Ice won’t be serving up delicious frozen treats in Midtown come springtime.

The quick-service franchise known for its “gelati,” a mix of layered Italian Ice and frozen custard, closed its doors, at 931 Monroe Drive NE in the Midtown Promenade Shopping Center, for good over the weekend.

Ariel Vegotsky, a company spokeswoman, confirmed the closure Monday in an email to What Now Atlanta (WNA).

“Unfortunately, the Rita’s Italian Ice at 931 Monroe Dr. has closed, but we love the local community and hope to open another location in the area in the future,” Vegotsky said.

No word on what will replace Rita’s.

  1. This was announced months ago. There was a Bruster’s truck parked outside tonight, looks like they were working on the building.
