The Days Inn Atlanta Downtown will soon become an Aloft hotel, Amy Wenk with the Atlanta Business Chronicle first reported.

The 263-room Days Inn, at 300 Spring St., will be transformed by Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide Inc., into the contemporary Aloft.

Banyan Investment Group, in partnership with DeBartolo Development LLC, will spend an estimated $25 million to renovate the 3.1-acre property, according to the report.

The Days Inn should reopen as a 242-room Aloft in summer 2013.

  1. It is a great location with quick access to all of the downtown attractions and the Mart….The old diner spot needs to be smudged first….

  2. You know, the Aloft Atlanta Downtown was originally supposed to happen years ago in Allen Plaza alongside W Downtown. The plans fell through then because of the slow economy and lack of condo sales at the W. I’m excited to see this finally happen. Convention visitors will appreciate the modern upgrades and the budget friendly price.

  3. As much as I want this to happen, I think everyone is glossing over something important. Half of all the windows in this hotel will stare point blank into the grey, unadorned face of Portman’s post-modern bunker next door. AmericasMart may be a reason to come downtown, but it’s a horrible neighbor and part of an inhospitable, storefront-less superblock.
