Owners Leslie and chef Hector Santiago announced Tuesday in a Facebook post, Pura Vida will close its doors December 31.

“We want to thank all of our fans for 12 years of living the Pura Vida! We are sorry to tell you that we will be closing Pura Vida at the end of this year, with December 31 being our last day of service,” according to the post.

Super Pan, the cuban sandwich shop also owned by the Santiagos (located on the lower-level of the Pura Vida space), shuttered in May.

Even after two restaurant closures this year, the Santiagos aren’t calling it quits.

“We are looking for partners and/or investors for new concepts. We are actively exploring our options, and we promise to stay in touch and keep you apprised as our future plans unfold.”

  1. Though I know they’ll come up with something just as high quality, I’m sorry to see this place go. It really impressed me when it opened and it was my favorite restaurant in the city for a couple of years, blazing a trail for creative-yet-affordable dining intown.

Also: I was sad to find out tonight while dining at Sheik Burritos that they’ll be closing this month as well. Great place. Likewise, the owner said he is committed to finding a new spot.

  2. That place was there for 12 years??????????
    shocking….
I ate there once and was totally unimpressed with the fru fru food.

(I am not a foodie – bring me a beer and some chicken fingers)

After eating at this place I stopped at Cheker’s on 10th street for a large fry and a coke…
