The poke franchise this week filed a permit application with City of Atlanta to convert suite A-100, a former restaurant space in the Edgewood Retail District at 1220 Caroline Street, into the Hawaiian-style eatery.

Poke Bar would replace Uncle Maddio’s Pizza in the Lowe’s- and Target-anchored shopping center, a 1,692-square-foot space, according to the permit filing. Uncle Maddio’s shuttered late-2016.

The shop directory on the Edgewood Retail District website lists the concept as “coming soon.”

Poke Bar last year opened its first Atlanta-area location in Sandy Springs and has 24 locations, primarily in California.

Poke seems to be taking Atlanta by storm and more aggressively than when gourmet burger joints, FroYo, and cupcake concepts reigned supreme.

Last week What Now Atlanta (WNA) announced Poke City would replace Kiri in Midtown, and Bowl Lab this month opened in Vinings.

Poke Perfect recently entered the market with one Atlanta-area location open with two in the works, and WNA is tracking down a few more poke concepts that are under development.
