PodPonics Receives First Crop– Lettuce Tell You Where To Buy
PodPonics, an urban farmers market offering organic produce that’s grown locally in shipping containers, was announced to be opening on Ponce de Leon avenue in Midtown. This announcement was made July 1 (story here) and just a month later, PodPonics has produced their first crop, lettuce.
PodPonics opened inTown Farmers Market to offer the organic produce they grow and for a wider variety, have teamed up with local farmers to retail their products. The inaugural market was yesterday, August 3. The next market will be this Thursday, August 5 with weekly markets every Tuesday and Thursday from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Located between Boulevard and City Hall East at 563 Ponce de Leon Avenue, inTown Farmers Market provides Georgia’s farmers, merchants and artisans with a new, centrally-located venue in the Old 4th Ward.
Atlantan’s can visit with farmers and Georgia retailers, enjoy freshly-picked produce, meet neighbors and officials from the Old 4th Ward, every week. This Thursday, August 5 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., 14 local farmers and merchants are scheduled to retail their products.
As for PodPonics, they announced the arrival of their first harvested crop on Facebook: “We will have some bags of lettuce from our first crop on Tuesday at inTown Farmers Market picked only minutes before. Unlike the bagged lettuce at your grocery store that has been “washed” in chemicals, ours is grown clean. Local, organic, and pesticide-free!”

Yes! I love Intown Friends, in my hood and cleaning up the streets. Last week they had cheese, milk, peaches, Westside Creamery, dog treats, and some handmade crafts. I can’t wait to check out the produce soon, and love the shipping container idea.
