Queen of Cream is nearing the arrival of its first brick-and-mortar ice cream parlor with a grand opening set for Thursday, August 13, the company this week announced in a press release.

The Old Fourth Ward dessert shop, at 701 Highland Avenue NE. in space formerly occupied by Fruttela, will serve up “traditional parlor goods” like ice cream, sundaes, milkshakes, floats, and coffee.

Queen of Cream was co-founded by 28-year-old Cora Cotrim, previously the pastry chef for Paper Plane, Victory Sandwich Bar, and Cacao. Cotrim in 2014 started the company with her partner Davis Sandling, who oversees business operations and sales.

Cora makes small batches of ice cream using local and organic ingredients, and she pasteurizes Queen of Cream’s frozen confections in-house. The company sources grass-fed, organic milk from Working Cows Dairy (Slocomb, AL) and cream from Southern Swiss Dairy (Waynesboro, GA).

The parlor will be open all day and offer over a dozen ice cream flavors by the scoop, as well as retail pints to-go. While the menu will rotate frequently, recent varieties have included Sweet GA Corn + Blueberries, Fresh Mint Chip, Thai Tea, Cold-Brew Coffee with Cacao Nibs, Brown Butter Whiskey Pecan, Cornflake Bacon Brittle, and Pretzel with Chocolate Covered Pretzels + Peanut Butter Caramel.

Queen of Cream’s brick-and-mortar location will feature a full bakery offering pies, cookies, and more, according to the release. The shop will also feature a full coffee program, including pour over, espresso, cold brew, and nitro coffee on draft.

Queen of Cream’s mobile ice cream cart will continue operation and is available for rent for private events.
