The cocktail and small bites hideaway, at 3081 E. Shadowlawn Avenue, has undergone a complete transformation under the new ownership of business partners Frank Grillo and Justin Breland, according to a press release Monday.
Grillo and Breland took over Mood mid-September, and have completely re-conceptualized it, according to Katharine Lowe, Mood spokeswoman.
“My inspiration for the new design stems from visits to some of my favorite speakeasies in New York and New Orleans with opulent style and grandeur,” Breland said in the release.
The space now has black crystal chandeliers, purple and gray carpets, antiques, a copper penny bar and silver alligator print booths.
Russell Donovan and Jacob Strawn, mixologists for Mood, create seasonally driven cocktails like, “Adam’s temptation” with Blanton’s bourbon, plum gastrique, ginger syrup and orange zest and a “Thai tomato chip” with Prairie vodka, tomato water, wasabi, sriracha, lime juice, soy sauce and Thai basil, among others.
Some of Mood’s menu items include grilled beef tenderloin bruschetta, pulled BBQ brisket sliders with Lexington-style slaw and lump crab seafood cocktail with homemade garlic mayonnaise and toast points.
The Buckhead lounge is open Monday through Saturday from 5 p.m. to 2 a.m. and offers live entertainment on Tuesday and Thursday evenings and Jazz, Wednesdays.

I never understood how this place got packed out on tuesdays. but only tuesdays.
@tricksfordays – thats exactly what we are hoping to change. Give us a chance on another night or during our Happy Hours and test out the cocktails. Let us know what you think.
I’ve never been to Mood, but I love speakeasies, so I’m curious to check this place out.
@illbeamongthecrowd
as long as you guys got rid of that ridonculous cover charge … ill give it a whirl.
I hope a “complete transformation” includes building a wheelchair accessible ramp into the front door which as far as I know did not exist in the few times I went (though I haven’t been there in over a year) and blatantly violates code. I am not betting on it though.
2 side notes:
-I never went there on any night besides Tuesday and @tricks, I am with you- I never understood this phenomenon.
-I did meet Charles Barkley and Kenny “the jet” there which was cool.
