The store will inhabit the space left by Coco Loco, a family-owned restaurant featuring Cuban and Caribbean fare that closed in February after being open for nearly 23 years.

The space is part of the Buckhead Crossing shopping center, situated at the corner of Piedmont Road and Sidney Marcus Blvd.

Mattress Firm currently operates 52 other locations in Georgia, eight of which are located within Atlanta city limits.

The Buckhead Crossing shopping center also includes Michael’s, Hancock Fabrics, Ross, Marshall’s, Payless Shoes, Sally’s Beauty Supply and others.

  1. I’m going out on a limb here, but maybe by selling mattresses?

I didn’t know Coco Loco closed, that’s a shame, I loved that place.

  2. A wild guess is that the mattresses have a high mark up. And the sales people are good at selling additional items like an extended warranty and waterproofing (seriously, a friend bought some sort of water treatment for his mattress from them). Unless they’re an elaborate cover for some sort of illegal business, they must be making enough for it to be worth operating them.

  3. It’s like a car, you may only buy one every 5 years, but so does everyone else. So there is always someone buying one. Also, just a thought, one wouldnt be sufficent, if there weren’t multiple mattress stores then they could charge whatever they wanted.

  4. The name comes from the Puerto Rican cocktail ‘Coco Loco’, or to be more exact the rather spicier version created by Brasilio (La Troya Godfather) to accompany the hedonistic and exuberant nature of the parties he threw here in the 80s and 90s.
