Tightening Nuts And Customizing Wheels For Atlantans and Their BeltLine

Loose Nuts Wheels out of Athens is opening an Atlanta location, Loose Nuts Cycles, at 465 Boulevard SE, suite 112A.

Just in time for summer, Loose Nuts is taking space that is currently in use as a fine art gallery and studio.

Owned and operated by the “wheel building duo” in Athens, Georgia, Kareem Shehab and Chris Tavel, started “building wheels” because there was a “woeful lack of quality wheel builders” around them.

Loose Nuts is a “commuter and urban rider” oriented bike shop and will be the place to go for “quality vintage parts for road and track,” according to Tavel.

With access to most major and niche manufacturers for rims, hubs, and spokes, Loose Nuts is capable of producing even the most customizable wheels for bicyclists in any color and with any hub.

Opening in preparation for the Atlanta BeltLine, Loose Nuts Bike Shop seems to be entering the market on firm ground.

The BeltLine will connect Atlanta by creating green space, trails, transit, and new development along 22 miles of historic rail segments that encircle the city’s urban core.

The first leg of usable transit on the Atlanta BeltLine should be in place between 2012 and 2015.

  1. Lame. That’s less than 1/2 a mile from an established bike shop who’s bread and butter is track stuff and custom wheel builds. Support No Brakes. They were here first and have sponsored tons of local races and fundraising events throughout Atlanta. They were also instrumental in bringing the 2010 NACCC’s to Atlanta. I am all for healthy competition, but Atlanta is a big town. Just seems a little close…
