Kevin Rathbun, owner of  foodie favorite’s Rathbun’s, Krog Bar and Kevin Rathbun Steak, is opening a new concept in the Peachtree Hills area of Buckhead, according to a press release Tuesday.

The new restaurant will be called KR SteakBar and will open under the direction of Rathbun, his wife Melissa and business partners, Cliff Bramble and Kirk Parks, according to the release.

“Sixteen years ago I was welcomed to Atlanta with overall warmth and I am happy to have found a great neighborhood for my next restaurant,” Rathbun said in the release.

The restaurant, at 351 Peachtree Hills Avenue Northeast, will offer a menu of “small plate steak meets Italian fare” and will be designed by The Johnson Studio.

KR SteakBar will have one-hundred and twenty seats, a full bar, and an outdoor patio and is slated to open August 2012.

  1. i love him and his food, but what is the deal with all these restaurants opening with the initials in the title? I think it’s getting a little ridiculous.

  2. At least it rhymes, muffin? haha
So glad to see another addition to this great neighborhood in the way of a neighborhood restaurant/hang out. With Paul’s, Treehouse and now this, its a great, small selection

  3. Definitely a destination spot, just like Krog and Rathbun’s, but whatever…the guy has killer restaurants, so bravo.

  4. Was that a compliment Urbanist? That must have hurt.

I am very excited to see this open, however, I question the location. While very close to Lindbergh, the area is very residential. Also, I’m assuming they won’t be open for lunch, as parking in ADAC is already terrible. I don’t even think the restaurant will have street frontage.

  5. Buckhead has been desperate for new & hip restaurants, so this is fantastic news. The location can serve hundreds of homes within walking distance (P’tree Hills, P’tree Heights & Garden Hills) and the Lindbergh Marta station is only a few blocks away.

I’d love to see at least one more casual, less expensive restaurant option in this area–something like a Victory Sandwich, Pizzeria or a Taqueria. Since the location is right across from Peachtree Hills Park, it would be a great place to grab a beer after a BBall game or Tennis match.

  6. I actually like this area – and I think its an underutilized but if they would have moved by Treehouse their spot would be money.
