Grant Central Pizza is probably moving their established East Atlanta Village location a few blocks over.

Documents filed with the city of Atlanta listed under Grant Central Pizza indicated an “interior build-out” to “convert the existing building to a restaurant.”

The document listed the construction work site at 1242 Glenwood avenue, just a few doors down from the existing location of Grant Central at 1279.

Our first thought was that Grant Central Pizza would be opening a new location until we realized the space in question was a few hundred feet away from the existing. We concluded they must be relocating, but why?

Eric Kaiser and Donnie Parmer, co-owners of Grant Central, recently purchased the space listed in the building permit mentioned above, an abandoned Wachovia Bank, which is located across the street from the Graveyard Tavern, according to sources at the restaurant.

Kaiser and Parmer lease the current space for the restaurant and sources told us plans were rumored that they’d be moving to their newly purchased property in order to eliminate rent. However, these same sources stressed that not only was the move not going to happen but that if it did, it was far from happening.

We know what you’re thinking: why would someone do something as tedious and costly as filing building permits with the city of Atlanta for kicks and giggles? You don’t.

So why the disconnect? Would you want your customers concerned their favorite pizza joint might be closing? Probably not.
