The family-owned retailer specializing in “spiritual supplies” products since 1965 is slated for nearly $30,000 in much-needed renovations at no cost to Miller. But, this isn’t the first time the 50-year-old drugstore is getting a free beauty makeover.

Rexall is being transformed into a movie set for Rings, the triquel to The Ring.

“The hollywood people are very generous and great to work with,” Miller told What Now Atlanta (WNA) in a telephone interview Wednesday.

“I’m getting a lot of improvements for just letting them use the building and I’m being compensated on top of that. I’m tickled pink.”

In 2008 during the peak of the recession, Miller was approached by television show Detroit 1-8-7 under similar circumstances. Without the income generated from renting out Rexall for production, Miller feared he would have had to shutter the shop.

“I was looking for a job at the time,” Miller said. “They paid me enough to cover the bills and get me through the recession.”

And while the income generated from renting the space for production doesn’t compare to a year’s worth of revenue for the retailer, “it’s very, very generous.”

The building, at 87 Broad Street SW, was built in 1893 and still has its original flooring and bricks.

As for Miller, he’s “hopeful lighting will strike a few more times.”
