“Atlanta’s Restaurant Scene’s About To Be Thrown A Real Fascinating Curve Ball”

What happens when you combine the collective food and music power of “Atlanta’s Restaurant Rat Pack,” the crew behind Atlanta favorites Top FLR, The Sound Table and Dinner Party Atlanta?

The result is a restaurant concept that will “have Atlantan’s scratching their heads,” said Patrick La Bouff, lead owner of Dinner Party Atlanta.

Darren Carr, Chef Shane Devereux, Patrick La Bouff, Karl Injex and Jeff Myers have taken the Atlanta food scene by storm with their innovative food joints and are just months away from opening their newest restaurant feat in Midtown.

Julia LeRoy will act as the chef for the new concept, joining “Atlanta’s Restaurant Rat Pack” as their newest member.

LeRoy, at age 19, went to work for Guenter Seeger at the legendary restaurant Seegers, here in Atlanta. After graduating from the Culinary Institute of America, LeRoy joined The Dinning Room at the Ritz Carlton.

“I was flying with my wife to Los Angeles and happened upon Julia LeRoy’s biography in an issue of The Atlantan,” Patrick La Bouff said.

“I found inspiration for our newest concept at 32,000 feet.”

Rumors abound suggest that the space for the new concept is 980 Piedmont Avenue, what we’ve referred to before as, a bit of a curse. The space was most recently home to Nona Mia Cafe.

“I will not rule out the possibility of the space at 980 Piedmont Avenue and I will tell you we had a Dinner Party Atlanta event at the space this past Friday, October 8, to get a feel for the location and to see how diners reacted to it,” La Bouff answered when asked if the rumors were true.

“A lease has not been signed,” La Bouff adds.

Speculation also suggested that the new concept was going to be a static location for Dinner Party Atlanta.

Says La Bouff, “There is no question that the new concept will be motivated by the success of Dinner Party Atlanta over the past year.”

“I’m not very candid about discussing things in business that haven’t happened. We’re beginning to find out that keeping secrets in Atlanta are next to impossible.”

La Bouff’s final thoughts? “We’ve been humbled and are excited about something that could come to fruition from the success of Dinner Party Atlanta.”

  1. I don’t know if the location is the curse… I just think the restaurants that happened to open up there in the past just plain sucked. If the place was good, people would come. It’s in a somewhat walkable area with lots of residents and restaurants. I hope something good opens there as I hate to see empty spaces. I wonder once the Midtown nightclub by Loews opens if someone will buy the old Midtown Diner space?

  2. If they can make Top FLR work in it’s current location, they’ll be fine competing with nickiemotos and flying biscuit… but I hope to god the space actually gets remodeled this time.
