  1. Many more than just these few listed ought to close. I am finding it hard to find restaurants that care about the water and food that they use for our consumption. I always ask if the water coming into the facility is filtered (I do not accept the toxin fluoride as a product I want to ingest). The ones that do filter their, I drink their water and will consider ordering food that has been cooked with that same water. The next question to them is, “What on the menu is organic?” If I get a nothing and non caring response, I get up and walk out. Many restaurants want to make a quick buck, take little pride in their product, do no research on the water and foods they serve and care little or nothing about our health in the process.

    1. Sounds like perhaps you should just eat at home in your biodome. How many chemicals do you already ingest daily? Do you pick the vegetables you eat? Do you know they haven’t been exposed to any chemicals? What about the truck they were delivered on? I’m sure it was spewing toxic exhaust fumes. If someone came into my restaurant and stuck their nose in the air asking “is this water filtered?” I would suggest they buy bottled water or bring their own. If you go to a “non-organic” restaurant and ask for organic food then you storm out then good for you. Who cares?

  2. I used to like Cypress Street but seeing this pretty much makes me never want to go back again. Even if it’s to have a few drinks with some friends. A score of 52 tells me that they really don’t care about the safety of their employees and specifically their customers. I’m a sad panda right now.

  3. Something is not right because 2 days later Cypress Street Pint & Plate has a 98. Sounds like something was incorrect.

  4. As much as I love Cypress, the violations they were cited for are disgusting. Of course they will (or at least, they better) pass upon reinspection, when they know the health department will be back. A moldy ice maker, cooked fries stored in the dishwashing area and general filth of the kitchen are enough to make me pass in the future. It seems like whoever is managing the kitchen really let things slide.

  5. A score of 98 is based upon a prepared visit. The first score is based upon an unannounced visit. Cypress Street’s original score reflects an overall attitude that is lazy by most of its staff and management. Think logically. If you knew that an inspection was coming on a specific date you would be diligent to ensure that you passed. If you don’t know about it and get lazy, that’s where you get popped. The 98 means they addressed the issue, but I wonder what will happen when they get a surprise inspection the next time? Ru Sans on Piedmont failed numerous inspections over an 18 month period before their ownership finally woke up and cleaned house. I haven’t eaten there since mainly because of skepticism of the new system. There are no bad teams, just bad leadership in this case.

  6. Really really disappointing news re Cypress St, the original inspection result is borderline disgusting.

Always seemed like such a tightly run ship there…shame.

  7. I’m curious about Cypress Street P&P: the person in charge is listed as Matt Deckard; is this the same Matt Deckard from Deckards on Ponce (closed awhile back and is now Toddlers and Tiaras or something like that)? Also, Cypress Street’s previous two ratings were both very good; I wonder what happened that they started screwing off about it.
