Chopstix, a fine dining Chinese restaurant located on Roswell road in Buckhead, opens tonight to include a piano bar after a brief nine day re-model.

Ron Barber, Boneheads owner, was brought in as a partner with Phillip Chan and Alvin Yin, Chopstix owners, to oversee the piano bar addition and is now a co-owner.

“I’ve been coming to chopstix for twenty years,” Barber said. Chopstix will celebrate its 26th year of serving Atlanta this September.

Barber’s plan for adding the piano bar also includes the addition of late night dining, something he says Atlanta had in previous years. “We used to have [late night dining] at the Marriott, but that was before you were born. Now we have Waffle House.”

Offering the Chopstix menu during normal dinner hours, 5:30 p.m. until 11 p.m., a change in menu will occur from 11 p.m. until 2 a.m.

Late menu items will include eggs benedict, steak and eggs, and eggs Florentine.

The renovation to the space includes a new entrance, carpeting, refurbished seating, a mahogany covered piano bar that seats 14 and new chandeliers.

The piano bar area will also have a dance floor and be sectioned off from the main dining room. Some of the pianists include Charlie Marshall (has played for Hals and Brickwood Grill) and Gary Narramore (has played for Broadway Grill and Cabaret).

Sparky’s Table, a private dining room for ten, has also been added. The private dining is named after Sparky Watts, a friend of Barber.

“Sparky passed away about a month ago at age 82 and before I bought this place they banned him from here. Now that I own the place, I’m going to name the private dining after him,” Barber told what now, atlanta? in closing.
