Irwin Street Market vendor says she’ll continue cooking at other local markets.

Candi’s For Breakfast, one of the individually owned shops at The Irwin Street Market, has closed.

The breakfast vendor announced Monday on Facebook that Candi’s would close.

“For those of you who have still not heard the news, Candi’s for Breakfast is now closed,” the post said.

Candice Hawkins, owner of Candi’s, said in that same post she intends to continue cooking.

This Wednesday, she’ll be at Stoveworks from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and at 999 Peachtree from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m Thursday, she said.

The Irwin Street Market, which first opened in 2006, still offers a variety of vendors: Irwin Street Coffee, Picnic, Jake’s Ice Cream, Garden Variety, Our Family Tradition, JD Rothschild & Co., Doctah Mojo’s and Lola’s Feta Dressing.

  1. Terrible news — they would have done great if Highland Bakery spread the wealth and posted a sign on weekends telling folks in a rush to head 2 blocks away to Candi’s. That’s what we always did to the point we expected and somewhat hoped Highland Bakery would be slammed so we’d hit Candi’s.

  2. I have to say, that Irwin Market is kind of a mess. Really unorganized, really disjointed. It’s hard to tell where one business ends and another begins. Someone would be wise to make the entire space one restaurant/cafe.

  3. I hate to see Candi’s closed but it was the slowest place on this planet. Food wasn’t half bad. You really needed a bell and a bullhorn to getting anyone’s attention in there.

  4. Billy is right. The service was terribly slow. I ate there 3 or 4 times and the food was really good, but brunch turned into a looooong meal, even with no wait for a table. I don’t know if the kitchen or the servers were more to blame.
