Southern-inspired clothing store takes space at Westside Provision District
Billy Reid is opening its seventh shop in West Midtown, Bearings Atlanta first reported. The Southern-inspired clothing boutique will open at Westside Provision District , according to the report.
The 2,500 square-foot space, at 1170 Howell Mill Road, will reportedly offer both mens and womens collections.
Reid told Bearings he and his team “spent nearly four years with numerous on-again, off-again, real estate visits” to Atlanta. “White Provision was one of the first places we visited on our search and we’re thrilled to be there.”
Billy Reid has a store in Florence, Nashville, Charleston, Dallas, Houston and New York. Its expected to open its Atlanta location in April.

I guess there weren’t enough places to find Michael Kors and Original Penguin around Atlanta…because those labels are so unique and all, and can’t be found in department stores. More of the same old shit, with a little bit of window dressing…

Urbanist, for anyone living in West Midtown, wouldn’t a trip to a department store involve driving somewhere? Isn’t it better that they can walk to a local boutique than go to the suburban style mega-mall?
Urbanist…. please shut up Billy Reid is an amazing nationally renowned southern designer and I’m glad to have him in Atlanta. His only other stores are in Charleston, Dallas, Houston, Nashville, New York, and Florence, AL. It’s nice to see more great high end retail coming to Atlanta.
…and I’m glad it’s not going to be in Lenox Mall, that place is such a dreadful shopping experience. I’m glad Atlanta is developing it’s actual neighborhoods instead of it’s malls.
i think Billy Reid is a perfect fit for that location. it really has become the most upscale place to shop in atlanta. this is great news to me,
Jesus Christ Urbanist – What is wrong with you? The negativity can’t be healthy. I just can’t comprehend why you’d want to live in Atlanta. I have a great job, but if I hated this city as much as it appears you do, I’d find a job in a city I wanted to live in.
Cool! I wasn’t familiar with Billy Reid but I just took a look at the selection on their website and liked what I saw. This White Provisions development and West Midtown in general are turning out nicely. As always, though, I’ll whine about transit access. The single bus route here is pretty poor. I’d love to see a streetcar come this way some day.
the Billy Reid store in Florence is amazing…….. of course I think its its his flagship….. it will do well in atlanta
When the Beltline line is built over that way, there will be a streetcar in West Midtown, but Urbanist thinks the Beltline is a waste and nobody will use it. I don’t even think he understands or has looked at all of the plans for it anyways.

THANK YOU for pointing out the public transit access is lacking in this area. I live down near where Howell Mill and Marietta St meet and I feel that the one bus route is not sufficient for this area’s growth and growing pedestrian needs. I’m also glad to see another great retailer posting into the White Provisions area- setting apart West Midtown from other parts of Atlanta as a great up-and-coming area.
Love this… one more awesome checkmark for the westside of town… not that I am keeping a tally or anything………
Now if they would start fixing up/transitioning the other parts of Howell Mill I would really be excited!
Whoops…I don’t know what I was thinking…I thought this was a Drew Lewis…Billy Reid is pretty decent.
And Mike, you’re right…80% of the beltline will be a complete waste. I’ve reviewed the whole thing, in detail. We can follow up on this in a couple years when it’s little more than deserted space and wasted investment

Love Billy Reid! The mall location in Dallas recently closed and an awesome new location has opened in Highland Park. It is a very cool store!
Want to “Speak Like Urbanist?” It takes years of trolling. But there’s a shortcut. That’s why I’ve created a list of powerful phrases to contrast any blog post that suggests positive things exist and happen in Atlanta. It doesn’t matter the topic. These phrases should be applied to everything from CVS to the quality of food a restaurant serves that hasn’t even opened or released a menu. Read them and memorize as many as possible:

@Arn, I don’t think it will hurt Sid Mashburn, it seems they are complementary and with this I would think that it will attract more of the same demographic. I’m glad the retail mix is growing in West Midtown. It would be nice to see J.Crew’s new boutique concept and Marc Jacobs there too.
I dont understand how Sid Mashburn can stand quietly for this and not be really upset / concerned. Essentially, Billy Reid is a more high profile name brand selling nearly the exact same clothes. Some fashionista here might dispute some nuanced detail in the clothes, but to the masses its the same stuff – only not as well known. For example, Sid Mashburn would be the kind of store I would go if I wanted to BUY Billy Reid here in Atlanta.
FYI – I have been to the Billy Reid store in NYC – its the exact same aesthetic / look and feel as Sid’s store in Atlanta – which I shop at regularly.
Bottom Line – Its either bad news for Sid or bad news for Billy but a there isnt room for two in that small area of town.
