Al-Farooq Masjid of Atlanta files permit for new gymnasium facility.

Al-Farooq Masjid, a Mosque located in the Home Park neighborhood of Midtown, is expanding.

The Mosque filed a permit with City of Atlanta Tuesday for the construction of a new “gymnasium facility.”

The estimated cost of construction for the 33,053-square-foot gym is $200,000, according to the permit.

Al-Farooq Masjid, which opened in 1980, is now one of nearly 35 Mosques in the metro-Atlanta area, according to its website.

Any idea where they’re planning to build the gym itself?

Great news. Will add construction jobs and enhance the mosque’s footprint in the community.
