Bistro owners tell Atlanta Magazine it’s closing in February.

Tierra Restaurant, a Latin American and Caribbean bistro, will close for business early next year.

The restaurant, at 1425 Piedmont Avenue NE, will shut its doors on Feb. 17, 2012, Atlanta Magazine reported Tuesday. Tierra will celebrate its thirteenth year in business the day before it closes.

The Midtown restaurant, which is located near the Atlanta Botanical Garden in the Ansley neighborhood, first opened for business Feb. 16, 1999.

Owners Dan and Ticha Krinsky told Atlanta magazine’s Bill Addison, the economy, among other things, is forcing the restaurant into closure.

No word on what will take Tierra’s place. Click here to read the rest of Atlanta Magazine’s thoughtful report.

Sad news…what is the deal with all of these greedy landlords in Atlanta raising rent in a down economy? they all deserve to go bankrupt for their greed…i hope they can’t find a tenant to replace Tierra, and I certainly hope its not another coffee shop, burger or pizza joint, mexican or asian restaurant…

How dare a property owner actually try to make money! Everything should be free.

Wooohoo! Another empty storefront in Midtown! Sigh…

Hopefully they’ll tear down the building, rezone it for higher density use, and rebuild something in it’s place.

This breaks my heart. The owners of Tierra work so hard and their staff is so great. Best food in the neighborhood, in my opinion. I always take friends and family there from out of town. Just a great neighborhood staple. I wish the owners all the best in whatever they do next. Love you, Tierra!

$10 says Novare will buy the land, level the building, and build a loft-o-minium building named “Gardyn” overlooking the Atlanta Botanical Gardens.

    Tierra will be missed.

Clicker. There’s more to development that making a buck. The community is not here to serve the developers. They are here to serve us. They can jack the rents up all they like. I hope they suffer for it though when they needlessly force a good business out the door.
