Japanese restaurant ventures inside the perimeter to open third store.

Ichiban Steak & Sushi, a Hibachi-style Japanese restaurant, is opening a metro Atlanta location.

Ichiban late fall filed a permit with City of Atlanta to open a 1,852-square-foot location, at 1740 Cheshire Bridge Road.

Its Cheshire Bridge location will be Ichiban’s third store and the Japanese restaurant will spend at least $45,000 converting the space.

There are several other Hibachi-style Japanese restaurants that share the “Ichiban” name, but are not affiliated, including Haru Ichiban in Duluth and Ichiban Downtown.

Ichiban simply means “number one” or “the best,” according to Wicktionary.

Ichiban was not immediately available for comment.

So this is going to be right next to Nakato? Or in the same space?

Interesting – that address maps to Francos which just recently put up a banner that says ‘Open Daily’ but appeared closed last night. There is an empty dry cleaner spot in that same building/ But building a Japanese steakhouse a few doors down from Nakato??

Nakato is 1776 CBR so it sounds like just up or down the street on the same side as Nakato.

It’s Franco’s. Their FB page has their address listed as 1740 Cheshire Bridge.

Odd choice to have two Japanese steakhouses within walking distance of each other…one won’t make it…

Franco’s food was so awful. I ate there once and it was expensive and I always wondered how they kept on going.

Franco’s is open… and it’s always a really good place for dinner!

Now that Franco’s has closed, is Ichiban still moving in?
