Tex-Mex restaurant to open in Fire of Brazil’s place.

Chuy’s Mexican Food, a Tex-Mex restaurant, is opening its Perimeter area location December 6, according to a press release. It was originally slated to open in November.

This will be the Austin-based Tex-Mex restaurant’s first opening in Georgia since it was founded in 1982.

The Tex-Mex restaurant, at 118 Perimeter Center West, is replacing the now shuttered Fire of Brazil.

“I’m eager to introduce Chuy’s food and personality to Atlantans,” John Mountford, local owner and operator for the new Chuy’s at Perimeter, said in a press release.

“Atlanta is a city known for its discernable taste, and I look forward to bringing locals a unique Tex-Mex dining experience unlike any they have seen before with quality ingredients at affordable prices.”

Chuy’s Atlanta will be decked out with an Elvis shrine, funky art, metal palm trees and hubcap-covered ceilings, according to the release.
