UPDATE (Jan. 10, 2012): James Joyce Pub now called ‘Brewhouse Cafe Avondale,’ its fourth name in four months

James Joyce Irish Pub will close its Avondale Estates location this Sunday, October 2, Decatur-Avondale Estates Patch first reported.

The Irish pub will reopen as The Hail Mary — modeled after a similar concept in Grayson, Georgia — the following Tuesday, October 4.

Blake Hawkins told Decatur-Avondale Estates Patch in an interview “the Irish pub concept hasn’t really worked for us.”

James Joyce, which first opened in 2002, celebrated its nine year anniversary on August 13, according to a Facebook post.
