Sports bar to expand into now shuttered Goodfella’s Pizza and Wings space next door.

Hooters is increasing the size of its Downtown location.

The Atlanta-based American restaurant chain will take over the now shuttered Goodfella’s Pizza and Wings (McDonald’s before that), according to a permit filed with City of Atlanta Wednesday.

Goodfella’s closed December of last year after reportedly being evicted from its Peachtree Street location.

Hooters’ expansion will add nearly 5,000 square feet of space to the existing restaurant at an estimated cost of $410,000.00.

Hooters was not immediately available for comment.

At least it gets rid of the blight that was that old space. Too bad they don’t take up the rest of that area. LOL

great, a bigger chauvinistic restaurant that is already really unnecessary. Tasteless food, in a tasteless environment.. actual restaurant pickings are slim in the area to begin with. How about some taste Atlanta?

I never have understood why the McDonald’s that used to be there closed up. It always seemed to be doing good business there. Goodfella’s I can understand.

By the way the space next to this has also been under construction for several weeks. Anybody know what is going in there.

The space nearby is going to become a Joseph A Banks

Their food is horrible. It boggles my mind that they’re able to expand, especially that location.

And no way am I stopping anywhere near a place where the Red Cross “Street Team” panhandles. Those people are a blight on the city. This is from someone who donates both blood and money to the Red Cross.

Well, poo. My dreamy dream that the empty space would be taken by a Flying Biscuit or Thumbs Up is squashed. Why in hell is this Hooters so popular? Do tourists and conventioneers have so little imagination that they can’t think of any place better to go? Argh.

What awful news. There’s already a shortage of decent lunch spots downtown. Do we really need an expansion of a mediocre chain with mediocre food? Can’t anyone open a classy joint downtown? Looks like Yahooism lives downtown at Peachtree Center.

Amen, JasonH. the Red Cross folks are so aggressive that I have started avoiding the areas where they panhandle as well. They are so omnipresent downtown that I may start bringing my lunch just to avoid them.

    What a bunch of cry-baby’s.

In this day, a restaurant expansion is good news in my book…regardless of what they serve or who they cater to. If you want a classier dining choice downtown, go open one.

Just keep in mind: Il Mulino, Dogwood, Dailey’s, et al. All closed.

Married men. Traveling to Atlanta on business. Who have little sex at home. Who probably would have a hard time having sex on the road. Solution: Scantily clad women at Hooters. That is why it is popular. Seriously? You all couldn’t figure that out? LOL.

Man, I hope this doesn’t effect the Pig Sty…

Homeless people, almost 100% black men, ruin downtown.

the red cross panhandlers are not supposed to be doing that in the tourist triangle. Next time look for a cop or ambassador, or call the ambassadors @ 4,2159600

qo, thank you. I’m going to look into that ordinance. These people are really annoying.

The pig sty has been under construction for the last 2 years. I don’t think its coming any time soon. McDonalds was closed bc the company pulled their franchise license due to complaints and bad secret shopper reports.
