Morningside video rental store hosts “DVD liquidation sale”
Movies Worth Seeing is closing after 25 years in business, according to an email sent to patrons Monday.
The video rental store at 1409 N. Highland avenue is having a DVD liquidation sale beginning March 21 at noon and will continue until inventory runs out.
“We will continue to rent new releases and T.V. series during our massive DVD Liquidation sale,” a Movie’s Worth Seeing spokesperson wrote in an email. “This sale will continue indefinitely.”
DVD’s will be sold for $7.99 and over 6,000 titles are for sale. The store will host the sale Sunday through Thursday, 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Friday through Saturday, 12 p.m. to 11 p.m.
Carl Black of Downtown Decatur was at the sale first thing Monday morning.
“The store is very busy,” Black told What Now Atlanta through Twitter. “Providence [Antiques] above Movies Worth Seeing is closing as well.”
Casseroles, a restaurant specializing in fully prepared casseroles for take out, is still slated to open below the Movies Worth Seeing Space.

There was plenty of work happening at Casseroles today, as has been the case the last few times I’ve been in the area. Their description of the location is a bit confusing, though. If driving, you turn into the same entrance as Movies Worth Seeing but proceed in the alleyway of sorts behind the buildings and head just up the hill. In that sense it’s “behind” MWS but I’m not sure about the “below” part, unless the actual space is a level below the entrance and signage.
Something is up with the landlord of this space…. we know they pushed out Caramba Cafe because they wanted higher rents. I agree that location should command higher rents BUT the owner would really need to invest a few million first to rehab the exteriors to Class A levels.
