Octane Coffee at Emory Village to be replaced by Steady Hand Coffee

Jittery sales lead to a change in ownership

Octane Coffee at Emory Village is closing.

A barista at Octane which serves Counter Culture Coffee located at 1593 North Decatur road, confirmed the coffee shops last day will be Dec. 17.

“Believe me, we tried staying open later and no one came,” Octane Coffee tweeted to a patron on Dec. 10.

But the coffee shop isn’t gone for good. Two Octane baristas think they have a stable concept for the area.

Steady Hand Coffee, owned by Dale B. Donchey and Jordan Chambers (pictured above), will replace Octane.

In addition to a storefront, Donchey and Chambers will sell coffee from a “mobile unit.”

Rattle Trap, the name of the mobile unit owned by the coffee shop co-owners, will travel serving coffee. Rattle Trap’s first stop is the Octane Coffee parking lot in Emory Village.

This Saturday, Dec. 18, will be the launch date for the mobile unit while construction begins on the storefront, according to Octane barista Ben Helfen.

Octane Coffee bar will reopen at the Bank of America building in Midtown on March 1 (story here).

Well, they both have on vests, ties, and paperboy caps, so I think it’ll be okay.
